Hey Convert to Raid Community! The below information is a compilation of the information that I have been able to find on the Fourth Boss in the Mogu'shan Vaults Raid. The strategies developed are right now more theory as I have not had the chance yet to practice the fights on the live. But as strategies for these fights develop my hope is to update these threads as needed. Please let me know your thoughts and I hope that this information will help your raid team progress.

The Spirit Kings - 10m Normal

Background

Dungeon Journal

Ancient records tell of these legendary rulers, powerful mogu who carved an empire out of the very rock of Pandaria. Their names still cause the lands to tremble: Zian of the Endless Shadow, Meng Sharpfang, Qiang Steelskin, and Sebotai Swiftfoot. Some say their spirits lurk in the vaults, lost in ghostly memories of battle and glory.

Fight Strategy

The key to this fight will be in the way you deal with each of the kings. There will be a lot of precise movements needed so it will be important that everyone moves quickly to where they need to be.

Meng Sharpfang

This King has a very unique strategy. A rotation will be needed to interrupt his “Crazy Thought”. It will likely require a rotation of 3 people to make sure that it gets covered. At a certain point however we will stop interrupts so that he can switch to his other personality. Some testing will be needed in order to figure out when exactly this will be as it will depend on what the healers can heal through. For now we will shoot for when his insanity hits 70.

During the fight the raid will need to stack up for his Maddening Shout ability. When this is cast DPS need to perform any burst AoE that they can in order to get the raid free. Once you take 10,000 friendly fire the raid will be free.

In an ideal situation this is how Meng Sharpfang will go.

Crazed Personality

  • 0 sanity - Tank boss in middle of the room. Interrupters will rotate on Crazy Thought. Just before maddening shout is cast the raid will stack up on the boss. (My hope is that there will be a Deadly Boss Mods timer on this.)

  • 70 sanity - Interrupters will stop interrupting Crazy Thought. Tanks will want to rotate their damage reduction cooldowns until Meng reaches 100 sanity. DPS can continue to DPS. Healers need to be prepared to use any cooldowns that they can to help the tank live.

  • 100 sanity - Meng will change to his Cowardice personality and start to wander around the room.

Cowardice Personality

  • 0 sanity - Meng will wander around the room. Interrupters ignore Crazy Thought and do not interrupt. DPS will need to watch their damage dealt. Just before maddening shout is cast the raid will stack up on the boss. (My hope is that there will be a deadly boss mods timer on this.)

  • 70 sanity - DPS will need to slow/stop DPS. At this level of insanity you will be taking a lot of damage for the damage that you deal. DPS that can use any personal damage reduction cooldowns can continue to DPS. You need to to be self aware of the damage that you are taking. Healers should try to conserve/regen mana during this phase.

  • 90-100 sanity - All DPS will stop. Tanks get into position to move the boss back to the center of the room. The raid should not be taking any damage so healers use this time to regen mana. At 100 sanity he will shift back to his Crazed personality.

Abilities that also may occur when we are fighting this King:

  • Flanking Orders: Be aware of your surroundings and where the guards are coming from. Try your best to move to the same side of the room that the tank moves to avoid the flanking orders.
  • Pillage: This ability will occur at the location of one of the raid members. This will happen on any player in the raid so try to stay somewhat spread out to give you a better chance of moving out of it.
  • Undying Shadows: The player that is targeted with this ability will need to kite it to the outer edge of the room. One ranged will be assigned to killing the Undying shadow once it has been kited to the outside of the room.

Qiang Steelskin

Tank will need to face the boss away from the range classes. Both tanks and melee classes will need to stand in front of the boss so that they can absorb his Massive Attacks cleave. Tanks and melee must be careful to run out of his Annihilate ability. This ability is a frontal cone attack and will one-shot you.

During the fight be aware of your surroundings and where the guards are coming from for his Flanking Orders ability. Try your best to move to the same side of the room that the tank moves to avoid the flanking orders.

Abilities that also may occur when we are fighting this King:

  • Maddening Shout: Before this gets cast the raid will stack up. After this is cast DPS needs to perform any burst AoE that they can in order to get the raid free. Once you take 10,000 friendly fire the raid will be free.

Sebotai Swiftfoot

The raid will need to stay spread out. After charging a random raid member he will cast his Pillage ability. This looks like a whirlwind effect so get out of it as soon as possible.

Move out of the direction that he is casting Volley.

When he casts Rain of Arrows anyone not caught and pinned to the ground will need to DPS the arrows to free those caught in it. Stay spread out so as to minimize the number of people caught in the arrows.

Abilities that also may occur when we are fighting this King:

  • Maddening Shout: Before this gets cast the raid will stack up. After this is cast DPS needs to perform any burst AoE that they can in order to get the raid free. Once you take 10,000 friendly fire the raid will be free.
  • Flanking Orders: Be aware of your surroundings and where the guards are coming from. Try your best to move to the same side of the room that the tank moves to avoid the flanking orders.
  • Undying Shadows: The player that is targeted with this ability will need to kite it to the outer edge of the room. One ranged will be assigned to killing the Undying shadow once it has been kited to the outside of the room.

Zian of the Endless Shadow

If Undying Shadow is cast on you then kite it to the outside of the room. One ranged DPS will be in charge on killing this add once it reaches the outside of the room. Everyone else in the raid needs to try and stay 10 yards away from the Undying shadow.

Melee and Tanks will need to rotate to interrupt Shadow Blast. The more of this that is interrupted the less damage the raid will take and the less healers will have to heal.

Stay spread out at least 8 yards from those around you in order to avoid AoE shadow damage that is cast.

  • Pillage: This ability will occur at the location of one of the raid members. This will happen on any player in the raid so try to stay somewhat spread out to give you a better chance of moving out of it.

It is likely that this fight is going to take multiple tries as we get use to the different abilities. Try to be patient and be aware of your surrounds and what is going on and we will get this boss down easily.
